Rehearsals
Terms 1-3: Wednesday 5:00pm – 8:00pm at St Patrick’s Silverstream, St Bernard’s College, or Sacred Heart College
Terms 2-3: Friday 1:30pm - 2:20pm in the PAC

Kapa Haka is a unique way to explore and embrace who you are, or simply, it is a group which enables you to express your love for Te Ao Maori. Kapa Haka provides opportunities to help you step out of your comfort zone and teaches you to be humble. Our group, Te Huatai Katorika are all about whānaungatanga (togetherness & family). We strive to create a family bond to ensure a safe space for us to ground ourselves and grow.

We partner up with our brother schools, St Bernard's and St Patrick's Silverstream, to form our Kapa Haka group, Te Huatai Katorika. We meet with our brother schools and tutors every Wednesdays from 5pm-8pm at different venues between the three Kura.

This year we have many exciting events to train for, including Hutt Fest and Te Awakairangi Secondary Regional Kapa Haka Competition where we will compete against other Kura for a shot to go to Nationals.

We have a fantastic group of leaders and two remarkable Kaiako who will help pave the way with their many years of haka.

The arms of Kapa Haka are wide open to all students of any ethnicity, knowledge and skill level.

Cost: $30.00 NZD

The membership fee for Kapa Haka contributes towards a Kapa Haka badge and a koha for tutors.

Competition and Event Charges:

Competitions and events will be charged separately, with permission and payment due before the event.

Terms:

When you become a member of Kapa Haka you must be fully committed to the group and attend every rehearsal and event/competition. You are expected to tell the teacher in charge if you are unable to attend any practices.
Appropriate school behaviour and school attendance standards are a requirement for a student to participate in extra-curricular activities.
